Horton Wins a Pair of Matches, But Racers Fall 5-2

Senior Chris Horton picked up victories in singles and doubles, but it was not enough as the Murray State men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Eastern Kentucky Saturday afternoon in Richmond.
Horton teamed with fellow senior Hunter Gerlach to post an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles. Yuri Pomepu and Nicholas Ksiezopolski teamed up for an 8-4 decision at No. 2 doubles to capture the doubles point for the Racers.
In singles action, Horton battled through a pair of tiebreakers to hand Johannes John a 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 defeat at No. 3. Mikel Headford also went to three sets at No. 6 singles as fought through the third set before falling 4-6, 6-2, 10-8.
The team returns to the court on April 5 when they play host to Samford at 10 a.m. at Purcell Courts.
