The Murray State men's tennis team dropped its season opener Friday evening as the Racers fell 7-0 to Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
The Racers (0-1) lineup featured four newcomers at the top four spots. UL transfer Ben Clos returned home as the Racers top singles player and battled for teammate Simon Childs. The 66th-ranked player had more than he could handle in the first set, but was able to hand Clos a 6-4, 6-1 defeat.
Newcomers Renaldo Domoney, Luka Milicevic and Jose Berardo all made their Racer debut's against the Cardinals. All three players gained valuable experience before falling in straight sets.
Mason Johnsn and Jadir Semensin were the only two returners in the Racer lineup. Semensin played at the No. 6 spot that he held down the majority of last season.
In doubles action, the duo of Clos and Berardo teamed up to give #44 Robert Rotaru/Alejandro Calligari all they can handle in an 8-4 decision.
The Racers return to the courts on Jan. 24 against Kentucky.
