The Murray State Racers finish up their stay in Miami, Fla., and the Coaches vs Cancer Classic when they meet the host school Florida International Monday at US Century Bank Arena in a 6 p.m. central time tip. The trip to Miami marks the first time in Racer Basketball to play on the west and east coasts before Thanksgiving (MSU started the season Nov. 5 at California). The Racers started the event Friday with a 71-43 win over James Madison. They defeated North Carolina Central Sunday by an 84-61 score. The Racers and Panthers are meeting for the first time since 1993 as MSU leads the series 2-0.
MSU used a big run at the end of the first half to set up their win over NCCU. After NCCU tied the game at 24 with 5:00 remaining in the half, the Racers put their defense into high gear and finished it with a 15-0 run. MSU's lead grew to 21 points with 15:00 remaining, but NCCU drew to as close as nine with 7:53 left before the Racers won the game with their largest lead of the day.

Senior forward Danero Thomas is closing on becoming the 35th member of the MSU 1,000-Point Club and starts the FIU game needing 40 points to reach the magic mark. 48 double-figure scoring games in his career have helped him along. Thomas has also been a durable player for MSU with appearances in 94 games including 68 starts. He was named to the All-OVC Preseason Team and the All-OVC Second Team as a junior.
