Murray State head men's basketball coach Billy Kennedy announced freshman Donte Poole will be sidelined approximately six weeks after suffering a broken collarbone in the Racers' game with Tennessee Tech Thursday night at the Regional Special Events Center.
This means Poole, will miss the rest of MSU's season which has six regular-season games and the post season remaining.
“It is a tough situation for Donte and our team,” Kennedy said. “He was making great progress in his first season.”
Poole was injured with 12:05 left in the TTU game when he went to the floor attempting a drive to the basket.
He was originally going to redshirt this season, but was pressed into duty when teammate Jewuan Long went out for the season Dec. 6 when a knee injury.
Poole appeared in 16 games and averaged 15.5 minutes and 5.8 points per game. He scored in double-figures three times including a season-high 15 against Tennessee State on Feb. 4.
The Racers return to action Saturday at home against Jacksonville State in a 7:30 p.m. game.
