Racers Make History by Scoring Both Track and Field Female Athletes of the Year

Both Dial and Jones hold two school records in indoor events. Dial in the weight throw and shot put, Jones in the 3,000-meter and 5,000-meter run.
“It is always good to have athletes like that on your team and not just because they're able to go out and score for you individually, but they also push the other athletes that they work with day in and day out to help them to become better,” said head coach Dereck Chavis. “They are very conscientious of making sure they are good people for the team and that is even more important then what they can do point wise on the track. They display good citizenship whenever they can.”
With their consistent improvement from each meet the Racers have high expectations going into the OVC Indoor Championships.
“If we go into the conference meet and do what we are capable of doing then we will do fine and everything will take care of itself,” said Chavis. “The only expectation that I ever have is that they go out and do the best they can, and I don't think they will approach a meet with an attitude other then that.”
At the only meet that was scored this season the Racers came in first and out scored all other OVC competitors.
The OVC Indoor Championships will be held February 27-28, 2009 in
