Murray State's Mason Johnson pulled out a thrilling third-set tiebreak at No. 5 singles and propel the Racers to a 4-3 victory over Western Kentucky Monday afternoon in Bowling Green. The victory is the second over the Hilltoppers this season and improves MSU to 4-6.
Johnson got out early as he took the first set 6-3, but dropped the second set 6-1. The back-and-forth third set went to a tiebreaker where Johnson was able to prevail.
The Racers also got straight-set victories from Jadir Semensin at No. 6 and Renaldo Domoney at No. 2.
The difference in the match came in doubles action as the Racers were able to win that point. Ben Clos and Jose Berardo rolled to an 8-3 victory at No. 1. After falling at No. 3, Domoney and Jorge Caetano won 8-4 to secure the point at No. 2.
The Racers return to the court March 25 against Austin Peay. First serve is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Purcell Tennis Courts
