Thomas, Miles, and Aska Earn All-OVC Honors

The Murray State Men's Basketball squad placed three student-athletes on the All-Ohio Valley Conference Team when awards were announced a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn. at the Hilton Hotel.

MSU's Ivan Aska was named the OVC Freshman of the Year and was named to the OVC Newcomer Team with sophomore Isacc Miles. Danero Thomas was named OVC Second Team.

Voting was conducted by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

Aska (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) has an overall scoring average of 12.3 points per game and a team-leading 5.9 rebounds per game. His numbers in league play are solid at 9.8 and 5.7. He has led the Racers in scoring three times this season including his season-best of 23 points against UT Martin Feb. 23. Aska turned in his first double-double against Tennessee Tech Feb. 12 when he scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Miles (Kansas City, Mo.) had MSU's first triple-double and only the ninth in the OVC Feb. 23 when he scored 13 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out 13 assists in a win over UTM. He scores 10.6 points per game this season and improved to 11.4 in league play. Miles had his season-best game against Southeast Missouri State Feb. 17 with 24 points.

Thomas (New Orleans, La.) earned second team honors after being selected to the OVC's Preseason Team and has been solid all season for MSU leading the team in scoring 10 times. His season-best 30 points came at Austin Peay Feb. 7. Thomas leads the Racers in scoring at 12.3 points per game and his average in league play is 12.2. Like his teammate Isacc Miles, Thomas has started every game this season and has 65 starts in his MSU career.

The Racers play Austin Peay Friday at the Sommet Center at 8 p.m. in the semifinals of the OVC Tournament, after UT Martin and Morehead State play the first semifinal at 6 p.m. The winners advance to the championship game Saturday at 7 p.m. ESPNU will air the semifinals and ESPN2 airs the title game.
