?Breds Fall in Second Game of Doubleheader

UT Martin got a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning to hand Murray State a 3-2 defeat in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Skyhawk Field.
Miles Hartsfield started the inning by being hit by a pitch before Ty Nelson reached on a bunt base hit. The next hitter bounced a ball to short that was bobbled on the way to starting a double play that loaded the bases with one out. Jordan Owen plated the winning run with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The ?Breds (29-17-1, 10-7-1 OVC) got on the board in the second as Jason Laws singled to left field and went to third on Jonathan Craycraft's double to right center. Bryan Propst scored Laws from third with a sacrifice fly to right center.
The Skyhawks (17-28, 6-14 OVC) got on the board in the fourth as Nelson hit a solo home run to left center.
MSU regained the lead in the fifth as Daniel Miller singled through the right side and went to second on a sacrifice bunt from Tyler Owen. Kyle Tiernan drove in Miller from second with a single up the middle.
UTM managed to tie the score in the bottom of the inning as back-to-back singles put runners on the corners with one out. Mark Hartsfield drove in a run with a slow chopper to second base.
Daniel Calhoun (10-2) took the loss as he gave up three runs on eight hits and six strikeouts over six innings. Coty Green (4-8) earned the victory after allowing two runs on eight hits over seven innings.
The two teams will close out the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at Skyhawk Field.
