The Murray State Racers return to the Regional Special Events Center Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game with the SIU Edwardsville Cougars. MSU enters the contest on a nine-game winning streak after taking an 80-61 win Saturday at Southeast Missouri State. The win was the Racers' fifth consecutive away from home and they return trying to extend a 13-game winning streak in the RSEC. MSU is two wins from the programs' 23rd 20-win season as they continue to tread ground last seen by the 1998-99 squad that started 19-2 and 13-0 in the OVC. MSU's calling card in the Billy Kennedy era is defense as evidenced by the fact that MSU ranks second in the nation with 11.3 steals per game and in the top-45 in field goal defense and three-point defense. The Racers have won 21 straight games when holding opponents to 60 points or less.

The Racers are performing at a high level on both ends of the floor. In fact, out of the 31 NCAA D-I conferences, Murray State is one of only three teams leading their league in both scoring offense and scoring defense. BYU (Mountain West) and Saint Mary's (West Coast) are the other schools in with the Racers.
The Racers' 10-0 OVC mark is the best among all NCAA D-I conferences along with Siena who also sports a 10-0 record in the Metro Atlantic Conference. Oakland of the Summit league and Butler of the Horizon League are both 9-0.
The Racers are 140-25 (.848) all-time in the RSEC in their 12th season in the building and 87-16 (.844) against OVC opponents, 53-9 (.854) in non-OVC games. MSU is 20-2 in the last two seasons.
MSU's home winning streak is 13. The longest in the building for MSU came in the first 17 games starting in 1998 and ending in 2000. Currently Kansas has the nation's best streak at 54.
The longest home win streak in MSU history is still safe for now. From 1996 to 2000, the Racers won 47 straight.
