The Murray State women's tennis team continued its fall action over the weekend at the 2010 USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional hosted by Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.

Senior Alexis Webb advanced to the Round of 16 Consolation Singles and finished the event with a 1-2 record. The Cumming, Ga., native fell to Sarah Miller from Louisville (5-7, 3-6) in the first round of singles action and then defeated Marietta Bigus (MTSU) 4-6, 6-1 (10-6) in the first consolation round. Her final opponent was Mami Venter from Kentucky, who earned a 6-4, 7-5 win.

Sophomore Ashley Canty defeated Masha Peresetsky (Wright State) in the first singles round (6-3, 6-2) and then fell to Rebecca Shine (Louisville) in the Round of 32 (6-3, 6-2). Cassidy Cunitz retired from qualifying singles competition against Cam Thompson (Butler).

In doubles action, Webb and senior Lindsey Wiseman were defeated by Ashleigh Witte and Ksenia Slynko from Cincinnati (8-1) and Cunitz and Canty fell to Riekie Honiball and Katie Thome from Miami (Ohio), 8-4.

The Racers will continue their fall action, Oct. 22-34 at the Austin Peay Invitational in Clarksville, Tenn.
