Women’s Tennis Opens Spring Action Against Louisville

The Muray State women's tennis team opened up its spring action with a match against Louisville at the Kenlake Tennis Center in Aurora, Ky., Friday, Jan. 28. The Racers (0-1) fell 0-7 to the Cardinals.

Junior Ashley Pierson and freshman Carla Suga were the top finishing double duo, dropping an 8-3 decision at the No. 3 doubles position to Sarah Miller and Stefanie Villajuan. Cassidy Cunitz was the top finisher on the singles side, falling 6-3, 7-5 to Sonia Bokhari at No. 3 singles.

“Every member of the Louisville team is a tremendous ball striker,” said head coach Connie Keasling. “This is the first time that we have had six healthy players at once and it was good to get the season started. We will continue to work harder the rest of the season and not dwell on the results of this match.”

MSU will return to action Feb. 11 in Evansville, Ind. The Racers will play two matches during the day against the host Purple Aces and Southern Indiana.
