Murray State Rifle Drops Close Match At Kentucky

MSU vs UK Results
The Murray State rifle team dropped a 4655-4647 loss Friday to Kentucky at the UK Rifle Range in Lexington, Ky., for their first loss of the season after winning their first two shoulder-to-shoulder matches.
"One of our definitions of success is to give your best effort, when a best effort is required,” MSU Head Coach Alan Lollar said. “This is a team goal, individuals will always fluctuate somewhat. You want the team to be consistent."
"We did this Friday when we lined up against the #4 nationally ranked Wildcats and gave them all they wanted."
MSU, ranked fifth in the nation, was led in the smallbore portion of the match by Nehemiah Gillman with a 579, while Kyle Donnan added a 576. Emily Quiner and Katelyn Cleven each added a 574.
Cleven posted a 294 to lead the way in air rifle with Gillman added a 590. Quiner scored a 588, while Ashley Rose added a 583.
"Number four (in the country) against number five should be close, and eight points out of 4800 is close,” Lollar said.
The Racers are set to meet Army in a shoulder-to-shoulder match Saturday morning.
