The Racers (5-5, 4-3 OVC) wasted little time in getting on the scoreboard as Mike Harris took a swing pass on the first play and went 26 yards up the right sideline. A pair of completions from Casey Brockman to Rashad Daniels, and another to Marcus Harris, set the Racers up with a first-and-goal at the eight. On the next play, Mike Harris took the handoff, pitched it to Dexter Barnett, who in turned flipped it to Marcus Harris and he went around right end for the touchdown.
On the Governers next possession, Dontrell Johnson stepped in front of a Trent Caffee pass and returned it 25 yards for the touchdown.
APSU (2-8, 1-6 OVC) got on the board on their next possession as they put together a seven-play drive that ended with Caffee finding Darryl Miller for an 11-yard touchdown.
The Racers were able to answer that score as Brockman found Marcus Harris for 16 yards and then hit Duane Brady for 13 more. Facing a fourth down at the Peay 31, Brockman went around right end for three yards and the first down. Three plays later, Brockman hit Barnett for a 15-yard touchdown.
The Govs needed only three plays to answer right back as Terrence Holt went around left end for 44 yards and the score.
The Racer offense continued to move the ball on the next possession as Brockman hit Daniel Ard for 17 yards and followed it up two plays later by finding Ard for 14 more yards. Brady hauled in another pass for 19 yards and Brockman did the rest as he ran in from 18 yards out.
MSU forced the Govs to punt on their next possession and then proceeded to put together an 11-play scoring drive of their own. Hanibal Beauford caught a pair of passes that covered 32 yards. Rashad Daniels went over the middle for a 21-yard gain that set up Kienan Cullen's 21-yard field goal.
The Racers would put together another long scoring drive in the first half as their next drive went 12 plays, and covered 70 yards, culminating with a Cullen 27-yard field goal.
APSU struck first in the second half as they forced the Racers to punt and then got a 50-yard touchdown run from Terrence Holt on their fourth play.
The Racer offense continued to answer as they were able to recover a surprise onside kick and took over in Peay territory. Marcus Harris hauled in a pass for 13 yards that set up a fourth and short, and Brady took a direct snap on fourth down and ran for six yards and the first down. Arthur Brackett hauled in a 19-yard pass and Brady went untouched over the right side on the next play for a four-yard touchdown.
MSU added to its lead on the next possession as the Racers converted a 3rd-and-10 as Brockman found Rashad Daniels for a 43-yard touchdown right down the middle of the field.
The Racers converted another third-and-long on the next drive as Brockman found Marcus Harris on a 56-yard touchdown on a seam route up the left hash.
APSU closed out the third-quarter scoring with a 12-yard run from Ryan White.
After the Govs got a five-yard TD run from Holt, the Racers put together one last scoring drive as Brady rushed seven times on the eight play drive, covering 55 yards, and ending with Brady scoring from one-yard out on fourth down.
Brady finished the game with 114 yards and two touchdowns, marking the first career 100-yard game for the freshman. He also added 53 yards on five receptions.
Marcus Harris led the Racer receivers with 11 catches for 138 yards and a touchdown. Daniels added nine catches for 122 yards and his first TD of the season.
As a team, the Racers ran a school-record 96 plays to gain the 673 yards of offense. MSU tied a school record 35 first downs, and set a new school mark with 24 passing first downs.
The Racers return to action next Saturday as they close out the 2010 season against Tennessee State. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at 'The Track.'
