Racer Coaches Participate In Shots From The Heart Free Throw Tournament

Murray State Head Men's Basketball Coach Billy Kennedy and assistant coach Amir Abdur-Rahim have been selected to participate in 'Shots from the Heart,' a project sponsored by CollegeInsider.com which is designed to help raise awareness of the growing problem of heart disease.
College basketball coaches will compete against one another in a free throw shooting tournament, which will benefit the American Heart Association. There is a tournament bracket for head coaches and one for assistant coaches.
Coaches will not actually compete against each other on the same court. Each coach will shoot 25 free throws at his convenience. A member of the athletic department will tally the results and send them in. The coach with the most points advances to the next round. Shots 1-20 are worth one point, shots 21-24 are worth two points and shot 25 is worth three points.
First round matches will be completed by Nov. 30. Those who advance will stay in the competition until there are four left. The contest culminates with a free throw championship match contested at the 2011 Final Four in Houston.
Coach Billy Kennedy is in the north region of the competition and faces off with Coach Pat Knight of Texas Tech. Assistant Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim has a first round match with Elwyn McRoy of Iowa State.

The event is held in honor the late Skip Prosser who spent 21 years as collegiate head coach at Loyola (MD), Xavier and Wake Forest. He died in 2007 of a heart attack.
