Huerth was a four-year member of the Prairie Ridge High School tennis team where she and her doubles partner, Allison Murphy, brought home the Illinois State Doubles Championship in 2009. Huerth's doubles accomplishments include an IHSA sectional title, a top-8 raking throughout her prep career and a backdraw championship in the 2010 Wisconsin Indoor Junior Championship. On the singles side, Huerth finished in the top three in sectionals since her eight grade season and was ranked in the top-24 in the state of Illinois.
“Carolyn's highly competitive doubles experience will be invaluable at Murray State since the doubles point in collegiate tennis is so crucial,” said Keasling. “For Carolyn to have success year-in and year-out in doubles play against the top junior tennis players in the US means she will be ready to compete immediately at the NCAA level.”
Klein started her prep career as a member of the middle school team at Woodward Academy in seventh grade, was bumped up to the JV team in 8th grade and to the varsity team as a freshman. In 2010, the team went 23-1 and claimed the Georgia State Clay Court championship, as well as seven other team championship titles. The War Eagles also took the state title in 2008 and went to the semifinals in 2009.
Individually Klein was a USTA Championships participant and repeated as the Mississippi Hard Court Open Championship winner in 2009 and 2010. As a sophomore she won 10 USTA tournaments and took second-place at the Georgia State Clay Court Championships. In 2008, Klein earned the No. 1 spot in July on the Prince Top-100 list after winning eight USTA titles, including the Georgia State Challenger Championship.
Besides her two state championships on the tennis court, Klein has been a member of the Woodward Academy volleyball squad that has claimed three state titles.
“Jordana is a triple threat,” Keasling said. “She is a multi-sport athlete, she know what it means to be part of a team and play for her school and she know what it takes to be a champion and win a championship, as is represented in the fact that she has one five Georgia State Championships in two sports in high school.”
