Murray State sophomore Isaiah Canaan was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week in voting conducted by the league's sports information directors.
Canaan, of Biloxi, Miss., helped the Racers to two wins last week, including a 68-60 victory Saturday against Western Kentucky.
In that game, Canaan kept the Racers in front in the second half by hitting four straight three-point baskets from the same spot in right corner and finished with a game-high 19 points. He was 6-of-9 from the field and 5-of-8 from behind the three-point line.
Canaan also scored 15 points (Dec. 15) in MSU's 94-52 win over Bethel.
In the two games, Canaan was a hot shooter connecting on 11-of-15 (.733) attempts including 7-of-10 (.700) from three-point range.
Canaan is MSU's first OVC Player of the Week award winner since Nov. 16, 2009 when Ivan Aska was chosen.
The Racers play their final game before the Christmas break Tuesday at UT Martin in a 7 p.m. game at the Elam Center.
