2010 Saluki Fast Start Results
Senior Kristin Reffett earned a third-place finish in the 1 Mile Run, in a time of 5:36.16, in her lone event of the day. Sophomore Alexis Love competed in two events and took home the second third-place finish in the 200-Meter Dash, in a time of 25.24. Love also advanced to the finals of the 60-Meter Dash, with a preliminary time of 7.70 and a finals time of 8.01.
“I was impressed with the performance by the team at this early meet, especially with that of Kristin Reffett and Alexis Love,” said head coach Jenny Severns. “Kristin had the highest finish (place) in her collegiate career so it was good to see her start her senior season off so strong.”
Senior Chelsea Hosey also returned to action for MSU after a season off due to injury. Hosey ran in the 60-Meter Dash (8.44), the 200-Meter Dash (27.98) and competed in the high jump (1.55m).
Senior Josha Rogers, junior Christina Johnson, sophomore Ayerial Rouse and freshman Meghan Helmer also competed in at least one event for the Racers in the single day event.
“Overall I think that the meet went well and it was a good to see how they would compete before we head into the break,” Severns added. “I think that this will be a good motivator for them to train hard over the break and come back ready to compete the rest of the season.”
MSU will now be idle until Jan. 14-15 when the team travels back to Carbondale, Ill., for the SIU Invite.
