The Murray State Racers hit the road this week starting in Cookeville, Tenn., against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in a 7:30 p.m. tip Thursday. The Racers are indeed one of the hottest teams in college basketball with the nation's second-best winning streak at 13 and the 19th best home winning streak at 15. More importantly, is MSU's play in the Ohio Valley Conference where they have won the first 13 games this season and have a stretch of 20 straight wins in regular season league games. The Racers are coming off a 65-63 thriller last Saturday at home over Austin Peay. The typical Racers-Governors battle came down the final possession when Racer junior Isacc Miles hit a jumper just before time expired to win the game.
The Racers enter the contest seventh-place in the Mid-Major Top-25 poll and they're still ranked in the upper echelon in several statistical categories. MSU is second in the country in field goal percentage (.508) 16th in scoring defense (.598). MSU is also second in steals per game (11.0) and 17th in blocked shots per game (+5.8). They also have the distinction of being the only team in NCAA D-I leading their conference in both scoring offense (78.3) and scoring defense (59.8).

The home team has won the last eight meetings in the series and MSU has lost their last four in the Eblen Center since their last win in 2004.
The Racers won the first meeting with Tech by an 88-66 score Jan. 16 in Murray, Ky., a game that was closer than the final score indicates. TTU cut the MSU lead to 10 with 15:17 remaining then the Racers had a 15-3 run to secure the win. MSU was paced by four in double-figure scoring including, Ivan Aska with 16 to go with nine rebounds. Kevin Murphy and Elijah Muhammad had 22 and 20 points to lead the Golden Eagles.
The Racers' 13-game win streak has put them in the neighborhood of the program's all-time best of 16 straight set twice in the late 1930's under MSU's first head coach Carlisle Cutchin. The Racers started 1935 16-0 before a loss to WKU, and had another 16-game streak that bridged the final four games of that season and the start of 1936. That second 16-game streak was also stopped by a loss to the Hilltoppers.
The Racers and Golden Eagles can be seen on the Racer Television Network.
