The Murray State Racers try to keep the nation's longest win streak alive when they host the Morgan State Bears on BracketBusters Saturday when the two tangle at 11 a.m. on ESPNU. The Racers are one of the hottest teams in college basketball and have won 16 straight since their last loss to WKU Dec. 22. The streak has tied the program record that was accomplished twice in the 1930's. Murray State also has the seventh-best home winning streak at 17.
The first meeting between the Racers and Bears finds both teams having great seasons. Murray State clinched their 21st Ohio Valley Conference title Tuesday with an 80-68 win over visiting Southeast Missouri State. Racer seniors Danero Thomas and Tony Easley combined for 30 points on 13-of-15 shooting. The Racers are 16-0 in the league and will be trying for just the fourth undefeated season in OVC history when they play at Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky next Thursday and Saturday.

Morgan State clinched their third straight MEAC championship with a 68-65 win at Delaware State on Wednesday. Key games for the Bears this season include, a 97-94 win at Arkansas and a 76-62 loss to OVC squad Eastern Kentucky. Reggie Holmes is the Bears' scoring leader at 22.2 points per game, while Kevin Thompson is their top rebounder with 12 per game.
The Racers enter the day with the 17-game win streak at the Regional Special Events Center and are 144-25 in 12 seasons in the building. Against non-league opponents, MSU is 54-9. The Racers all-time record win streak at home is 47. The streak began by winning the final 30 games at Old Racer Arena which the Racers left after the 1997-98 season, and winning the first 17 in the RSEC.
Murray State Athletics will have a special fundraising event Saturday when Hotcakes for Haiti is held starting at 9 a.m.
at the RSEC. A pancake breakfast will be held with all proceeds going to disaster victims in Haiti. The game also finds the return of ESPNU to the RSEC and marks the fifth time this season that the Racers have appeared on the ESPN family of networks.
