Murray State Athletics wishes to thank all who made the Hotcakes for Haiti fundraiser a big success, Feb. 20 before the Racers played Morgan State in BracketBuster Saturday at the Regional Special Events Center.
More than 500 guests attended and more than $2,500 was raised for earthquake relief in Haiti through the Hotcakes for Haiti pre-game pancake breakfast.
"We thought we would have 300 or so attend, but we ended up serving over 500 guests," stated Paul Bubb, Associate Athletic Director for Murray State. "Though some folks had a bit of a wait, people knew the funds were going to a worthy cause and all seemed to pass the time with friends while listening to the special Froggy 103.7 FM broadcast which aired over the arena sound system and Racer Vision video boards."
The event was sponsored by the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and University Dining Services-Racer Hospitality.
Also contributing to make the event a success were Woodmen of the World and Randy Thornton Heating and Air Conditioning.
Funds from the event will go to the American Red Cross for earthquake relief in Haiti.
The event preceded Murray State's win, which was aired live on ESPNU as the Racers defeated Morgan State 75-66. The Racers set a school record with their 17th consecutive victory.
