The Murray State Racers end the regular season Saturday when they invade McBrayer Arena/Alumni Coliseum in a 6 p.m. central time tip. The game finds MSU coming off a loss for the first time since before Christmas after they dropped a 70-65 game at Morehead State Thursday. A loss that ended the Racers' 17-game win streak which was the longest in the nation and a school record. The Racer Television Network will air their pre-game show at 5:45 p.m.
The Racers are chasing history with their current 26 wins which is three shy of the team record 29 set by the 1997-98 team. MSU is also trying to be the the third team in school history to have only one loss in the OVC. The teams from 1987-88 and 1993-94 have such distinction.

The second meeting between the two teams ends the season after their first meeting Dec. 3 started their Ohio Valley Conference season. 86 days will have passed between their first meeting and Saturday's second game. The Racers won the first meeting when they got a jumper with 2.6 seconds left from B.J. Jenkins to win the game 62-60 in Murray, Ky., their third straght win over EKU. Tony Easley led MSU with 14 points and nine rebounds, while Isacc Miles added 13.
Murray State clinched the No. 1 seed in the OVC Tournament with a win over Southeast Missouri Feb. 16 which was the Racers' 21st all-time OVC title and first since 2006. The Racers will host the eighth seed Tuesday at the Regional Special Events Center at 7 p.m., the opponent will either be Tennessee State or Tennessee Tech. With the OVC moving all games to Nashville's Municipal Auditorium in 2011, this season marks the end to quarterfinal games being hosted by the top-4 seeds. Since this practice began in 1997, MSU has never finished out of the top-4 and have been a host in 13 straight seasons. The Racers have an OVC leading 13 tournament championships and 57 all-time wins. MSU has also has had 12 OVC Tournament MVP's and this marks the 12th time MSU has been the No. 1 seed.
The Racers also have the distinction of being one of two teams in NCAA D-I leading their conference in both scoring offense (78.7) and scoring defense (60.7). The other is Saint Mary's (CA) who leads the West Coast Conference.
