Track and Field Takes Third at McDonald's Invitational

The Murray State track and field team took third place and set a school record in the 60-meter dash at the McDonald's Invitational hosted by Southern Illinois University this past weekend.

Alexis Love set the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.73, earning second place in the event. The previous record was held by current team member, Audris Williams with a time of 7.76. Love also took fourth place and set a personal best in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.44.

Senior Taylor Crawford was another top performer for the Racers this weekend. She took second place and set a personal best time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.72. Crawford placed fifth in the one mile run with a time of 5:23.44.

The Racers had four top-ten finishes in the 3,000-meter run. Kayla Crusham took second place in the event with a time of 10:55.92. Following closely behind Crusham in third place was Asenath NaAman with her personal best time of 10:57.07. Kristen Reffett took seventh place with a time of 11:23.79, also a personal best. Rounding out the Racers in eighth place was Bridget Stichnot (11:26.19).

In the 400-meter dash Amber Mills (57.80) and Christina Johnson (1:00.87) set personal best times and finished in the top-ten.

Other top-ten finishes and personal best times for the Racers came in the one mile run. Katelyn Jones took sixth place with a time of 5:23.44. Karissa Magnuson finished with a time of 5:29.95 and came in ninth place.

For the field, Lexi Barr, Taylor Utsey, and Audris Williams were the top performers for the Racers. Barr had her personal best vault of 11'01.75” and placed third in the event.

Utsey placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17'09.50”. Williams took 10th place with a leap of 16'10.75”, her personal best for the event.

The Racers will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 13th at the DePauw Classic hosted by DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. The meet is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
