Murray State men's basketball coach Billy Kennedy has been named as one of 15 finalists for the 2010 Skip Prosser Award sponsored by CollegeInsider.com.
The award was established to honor the late Skip Prosser who died in 2007 and was a leader in the game of college basketball having the respect and admiration of his peers after coaching 14 seasons at Wake Forest.
Prosser was the only coach in NCAA history to take three separate schools to the NCAA Tournament in his first year coaching the teams, as he did so with Wake Forest, Xavier and Loyola (Md.). In 21 years, Prosser made 18 postseason appearances.
Billy Kennedy has the Racers in the NCAA Tournament for the 14th time, plus MSU has recorded a record-breaking 30-win season by winning both the regular-season and tournament championships in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Kennedy was also named the OVC Coach of the Year, NABA District-19 Coach of the Year and is a finalist for the Hugh Durham Coach of the Year Award.
The Citadel's Ed Conroy was the winner of the Prosser Award in 2009 and Notre Dame's Mike Brey won the inaugural award in 2008.
This year's award will be presented on April 2 in Indianapolis at the Final Four.
