STORY LINES
The Chris Hatcher era begins in the front of the home fans as Murray State plays its 2010 home opener against Southeast Missouri.
Both teams are coming off road losses against teams from the Mid-American Conference last Thursday. The Racers fell at Kent State, while the Redhawks lost at Ball State.
Saturday's game marks the earliest start to the Ohio Valley Conference season for MSU since the Racers traveled to Tennessee State in the second week of the 2006 season. The Racers dropped a 25-15 decision to the Tigers in that contest.
The contest marks the first time the Racers will open their home schedule with a conference contest since the 1999 season. After opening with two games on the road, MSU hosted SEMO in the home and conference opener, and hading the Redhawks a 45-18 defeat.
The Racers are 36-7-1 against the Redhawks, including going 19-2 in games played in Murray.
The Game
The Racers open the 2010 home season as they play host to Southeast Missouri in an early-season Ohio Valley Conference showdown. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at 'The Track.'
Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night
Saturday's home opener against Southeast Missouri is Murray State Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night. It is also Chamber Day at 'The Track.' Tailgating will take place inside the stadium on the East side against the wall.
Wazoo Sports to Televise Game Live
Saturday's game against Southeast Missouri will be shown live on Wazoo Sports. Josh Perigo will call the action, while Jim Tirey will serve as the color analyst.
Captains
In a vote by the 2010 Racers, five captains have been named for the upcoming season. The captains are Justin Clark, Rashad Daniels, Marcus Harris, Zach Kutch and Harry McCall.
The Series
Murray State leads the all-time series 36-7-1. The Racers are also 19-2 in games played in Murray.
Racers In Home Openers
Murray State enters the 2010 home opener with a record of 57-25-4 in home openers. The Racers have won 13 of their last 14 home openers. Saturday's game marks the seventh time that Southeast Missouri will serve as the opponent in the home opener. The Racers are 5-1 in the previous six meetings.
Racers in OVC Openers
Murray State is 27-35 in Ohio Valley Conference openers in their history. The Racers are also 31-31 in OVC home openers.
New Look Racers
Murray State will feature a new look this season as the Racers will wear all blue at home and all white on the road. The Racers will also sport white shoes, and the logo on the helmet with be the M with the horse and RACERS underneath.

A new era of Racer football is unveiled this season as Murray State unleashes the 'Hatch Attack' under first-year head coach Chris Hatcher.
Hatcher in Home Openers
Head Coach Chris Hatcher has enjoyed success on his first game on the home sideline. Over the previous 10 seasons, Hatcher is a perfect 10-0 in home openers. Hatcher's teams are outscoring their opponents by 21.2 points in those contests.
