The Murray State Racers meet the Austin Peay Govs Saturday in an 11 a.m. tip at the CFSB Center in Murray, Ky., in what will be the 110th meeting in the historic rivalry that is among the best in all of college basketball. The Racers enter the game on a six-game winning streak, while APSU has won its last four.
The Racers are coming off a 64-53 win Thursday against Tennessee State which pushed their home winning streak to 25, the fourth-best in the country behind Kansas (68), Duke (28) and Kentucky (26). MSU has also won 18 straight Ohio Valley Conference home games since last losing to the Govs (Jan. 10, 2009).
MSU saw Donte Poole come off the bench to match his career high with 16 points on 4-of-4 shooting from three-point range and was 6-of-7 overall from the field. Isacc Miles added 12 points and a career-high four steals. MSU jumped to a 23-13 lead when Miles got a steal and hit Jewuan Long for a layup with 5:12 before half. The Racers broke the game open with a 10-3 run in the second half when Shawn Jackson and Poole led the charge for a 59-37 lead with 4:24 remaining. MSU held the Tigers to only nine field goals in the first half and 38 percent shooting for the game, while hitting 50 percent of their own shots. MSU won the battle of the boards 32-24 and has 12 rebounds on the offensive end.

Murray State Head Coach Billy Kennedy will soon gain his 100th career win as MSU coach and 200th of his career. He is now 94-48 (.662) in his fifth season with the Racers and 198-174 (.532) in his 13th season which also includes stops at Centenary and Southeastern Louisiana. When Kennedy reaches 100 wins at MSU, he'll join only six other MSU coaches who have reached the century mark. Carlisle Cutchin, MSU's first coach from 1925-41 is MSU's all-time leader with 267 wins, while Cal Luther is second with 241 victories from 1959-74. Counting his last two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana, Kennedy's teams in the last five complete seasons have averaged more than 21 wins.
