GAME NOTES
Murray State (5-4, 3-3 OVC) vs. Austin Peay (3-6, 2-4 OVC)
Nov. 12 - 1 p.m.
Stewart Stadium - Murray, Ky.
STORY LINES
Saturday will mark the final home game of the 2011 season. The contest will be the final time that Dexter Barnett, Richard Biers, Andre Clarke, Jamal Crook, Kienan Cullen, Darrell Davis, Dexter Durrante, Joe Gamsky, Lamar Hall, Mike Harris, Raymond Hopson, Dontrell Johnson, Tyler Lavea, Paul Lewis, Dylan Mundella, Elbert Ojendis, and Ryan Walker will play a game at Stewart Stadium.
One week after setting an MSU single-season record for completions in a season, junior quarterback Casey Brockman needs just 19 completions to set a new Ohio Valley Conference record for completions in a season. The record of 279 is currently held by Southeast Missouri's Andrew Goodenough in 2004.
Senior kicker Kienan Cullen set a pair of records against Tennessee Tech as he became Murray State's all-time leadin scorer, while also setting a new OVC record for career field goals made with 53.
The victory over #15 Tennessee Tech marked the first time the Racers have defeated a ranked opponent on the road since #8 MSU beat #14 Eastern Illinois, 35-28, on Oct. 19, 1996.
The Game
The Racers play their final home game of the 2011 regular season as they welcom Austin Peay to 'The Track' for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
vs. Austin Peay
The Racers lead the all-time series with the Governors 31-13. The Racers have won three-straight in the series, and 10 of the last 11 dating back to 1992. MSU is 18-4 all-time in games played in Murray.
Postseason Hopes
The Racers are still clinging to postseason hopes. In order to be eligible, the Racer must win their final two games to reach the magic number of seven Division I wins. MSU will also need help from other teams on the bubble.
A Victory vs. Austin Peay...
Would ensure a winning season for the Racers and mark the first time since the 1999-2000 seasons in which MSU posted back-to-back winning seasons.
Hatcher in Elite Company
A second-straight winning season will make Chris Hatcher the fourth MSU coach to post winning seasons in his first two years as head coach, and just the second in the modern era. Carlisle Cutchin led the Racers to winning seasons in 1925-26, Roy Stewart in 1932-33 and Denver Johnson in 1997-98 are the others.
Small Nears 100
Lineback Sam Small needs just 11 tackles to reach 100 tackles this season. It will mark the 26th time in the last 46 years that the Racers will have a player reach 100 tackles.
Brockman Eyes OVC Record
Junior quarterback Casey Brockman needs just 19 completions to break the OVC single-season record for completions. He has completed 260 passes this season, and looks to break the mark of 279 set by SEMO's Andrew Goodenough in 2004. Brockman also needs 72 pass attempts to break the attempts record.
Road Win vs Ranked Opponent
Saturday's victory over #15 Tennessee Tech marked the first time since Oct. 19, 1996, the Racers beat a ranked team on the road. The previous victory was 35-28 against #14 Eastern Illinois.
Brockman Sets Completions Record
Casey Brockman set a new single-season completion record at MSU in the first half against Tennessee Tech. He broke the record of 240 completions set by Justin Fuente in 1999.
