MSU Basketball Signs C.J. Ford & Terron Gillmore

Murray State men's basketball coach Steve Prohm announced the signing of C.J. Ford (Fayetteville, N.C.) and Terron Gillmore (Jackson, Miss.).
The pair continue the 2012 signing class for the Racers after Zabius “Zay” Henderson (Monroe, La.) and Erik McCree (Winter Garden, Fla.) signed with Murray State on Wednesday.
All of the MSU signees will be freshman in the fall of 2012.
C.J. FORD – WESTOVER HS – FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.
C.J. Ford (6-1, 180) is a guard from Westover High School in Fayetteville, N.C.
In the 2010-11 season, Ford averaged 17 points, six rebounds and five assists in leading his team in scoring and assists. He shot 49 percent from the field, 42 percent from three-point range and was an 85 percent free throw shooter. As a sophomore in 2009-10, Ford led the Wolverines with 21 points per game.
Ford and Westover HS were 22-5 last season and advanced to the sectional semi-finals in North Carolina Class 3A. Ford was named All-Region MVP and to the North Carolina All-State Second Team.
He has been nominated for the North Carolina East-West All-Star Game and North-South All-Star game which matches the best seniors from the state against the all-stars from South Carolina.
“We're happy to have C.J. become a Racer,” Prohm said. “We had our eye on him all summer. We wanted to continue to get more athletic in our backcourt because we will lose two senior guards, so C.J. will help. He has a lot of athleticism and is great in the open floor.
He is very good with the ball in his hands.”
Ford plays at Westover High School for head coach George Stackhouse.
“He is a young man of great character,” Stackhouse said. “He's very talented but yet very unassuming and humble. His work ethic is outstanding and it has allowed him to continue to improve every year and he'll do that at Murray State. He has been an outstanding kid to coach. What separates him is his quickness with the ball that allows him to put pressure on the defense.”
TERRON GILLMORE – CALLAWAY HS - JACKSON, MISS.
Terron Gilmore (6-7, 200) is a forward from Callaway High School in Jackson, Miss.
In the 2010-11 season, he averaged eight points, eight rebounds and 4.7 blocked shots per game, while shooting 54 percent from the field.
Gillmore is an active rebounder and shot blocker and has started his senior season at Callaway in impressive fashion with two double-doubles against S.V. Marshall High School and Jim Hill High School.
“The state of Mississippi has been very good to our program over the years and we're excited to have Terron join the Racer program,” Prohm said. “Terron is seeing great improvement right now and his best basketball is ahead of him because he's beginning to tap into his potential. I love the energy he plays with and his ability to alter the opponent's shot around the rim. He's a high character kid who plays extremely hard.”
Gillmore's coach at Callaway High School is Wayne Brent.
“He has developed a lot recently and he's coming out of his shell,” Brent said. “Terron plays with a lot of energy. At the end of last season we played Lanier and he blocked nine shots and started to play like we thought he could. We're looking for a big senior season out of him. He's the kind of kid, who isn't afraid of hard work. I've followed Murray State for a while and Terron will be a good fit for Coach Prohm.”
Gillmore played AAU basketball last summer with Marc Rowe AAU out of Jackson, Miss.
