Murray State (4-4, 2-3 OVC) vs. 20/15 Tenessee Tech (5-2, 4-1 OVC)
Nov. 5 - 1:30 p.m.
Tucker Stadium - Cookeville, Tenn.
STORY LINES
Saturday's game is a chance to play spoiler in the race for the OVC championship. Tennessee Tech enters the game tied for first place in the OVC standings, but with a loss, will fall out of first place and need some help for postseason consideration.
Junior quarterback Casey Brockman is nearing a few single-season passing records. He needs 11 completions to set a new single-season record. He will break records with 49 attempts, eight touchdowns and 991 yards. Brockman also needs just eight completions to become the fourth player in school histor with 500 completions.
The Racer coaching staff will see a familiar face on the field in TTU running back Adam Urbano. He is in his first year playing for the Golden Eagles after sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules. Urbano played his first two season's under Coach Hatcher at Georgia Southern.
Linebacker Qua Huzzie was named the National Co-Defensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network/Fathead.com after recording 13 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, two sacks two forced fumbles and a pass break-up against Eastern Kentucky.
The Game
The Racers hit the road for a matchup against OVC frontrunner Tennessee Tech on Nov. 5. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. from Tucker Stadium.
vs. Tennessee Tech
The Racers trail the all-time series with the Golden Eagles 41-34-1. The two teams have split the previous four meetings, with each team winning on their home field. The Racers have lost five-straight games in Cookeville, with their last victory coming in 1999.
Spoilers
The Racers have a chance to play spoiler in both the race for the OVC championship and a trip to the FCS playoffs. A victory over Tennessee Tech will ensure the Golden Eagles will not reach the magic number of seven Division I wins. TTU will then need some help in winning the OVC title and the automatic bid. No team with fewer than seven Division I wins has ever received an at-large bid.
Harris Goes Over 200 vs EKU
Running back Mike Harris made history against Eastern Kentucky as he became the first Racer to rush for over 200 yards against the Colonels. Harris went for 206 yards on 21 carries for his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season. It also marked the third career game of at least 200 yards, joining Derrick Cullors as the only backs to accomplish the feat.
Cullen Sets FG Record
Senior Kienan Cullen became the school's all-time leader when he kicked his 50th career field goal against Eastern Illinois, and then tied the OVC record by kicking a pair of field goals against Eastern Kentucky. He now needs just one point to pass Paul Hickert for the all-time scoring record at MSU, and move into 10th place on the all-time OVC scoring list.
