Murray State's Isaiah Canaan Named Lou Henson Pre-Season All-America

Lou Henson All-America Pre-Season Team
Murray State junior guard Isaiah Canaan has been named to the 2011-12 Lou Henson Preseason All-America team by CollegeInsider.com.
Announced from Boston, Ma., the Henson All-American Preseason Team leads the Lou Henson Award at the end of the season, presented to the top mid-major player in NCAA D-I basketball.
“We're excited to see one of our student-athletes recognized as a candidate for the Lou Henson award,” MSU Head Coach Steve Prohm said. “We're looking forward to a great season from Isaiah.”
Canaan, from Biloxi, Miss., enters his junior season with the Racers as a member of the All-Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Team. He was OVC Freshman of the Year and OVC Tournament MVP in 2010, as well as a part of the OVC Newcomer Team. Last season, Canaan was named to the All-OVC First Team.
Canaan led the Racers in scoring last season with 11.7 points per game and was sixth in the league in three-point percentage at .403.
The award is named in honor of Lou Henson who retired after a spectacular coaching career that lasted 41 years. When he left the game in 2005 he was sixth all-time in career Division I wins with 779. He is the winningest coach at both Illinois and New Mexico State. He is one of only 12 coaches in the history of the game to take two schools to the Final Four.
