Track & Field Headed to Michigan For GVSU Big Meet

The Racers will be one of 39 female teams from all NCAA divisions, junior colleges and NAIA schools participating in the event. MSU will be competing with some of the top teams from around the country a both the DI and DII levels.
There are six teams that are ranked in the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association DI regional polls, including nationally ranked Southern Illinois (No. 10). A total of three teams from the USTFCCCA DII national rankings will also be participating, including the No. 1 team in the nation in the host Lakers.
Other DI regionally-ranked teams include Eastern Michigan, Purdue, Toledo, Western Kentucky and Indiana State, while Indiana (Pa.) is No. 10 in the DII national polls and Western State is ranked No. 20.
The Racers will be looking to build on their performances at the SIU Invitational, including sophomore Alexis Love who earned adidas Ohio Valley Conference Track Athlete of the Week honors for finishing first in the 200 and second in the 60.
