Track & Field Continues Strong Performance at GVSU Big Meet

Results
Junior Christina Johnson took a fifth-place finish in the open section of the 400, with a season-best time of 58.35. Fellow junior Kayla Crusham turned in a time of 2:27.39 in the 800 after competing in the 5000 Friday.
Sophomore Bridget Stichnot set a personal best in the 1 Mile in a time of 5:51.37, taking 41st. Stichnot also ran a season best in the 3000 (11:14.04). Junior Galileo Simmons added a personal record of 2:24.04 in the 800.
Simmons then teams with Johnson, sophomore Alexis Love and freshman Katie Forshey to take seventh in the 4x400 relay, with a time of 4:01.78, in the first running of the event by MSU this season.
In the field events, senior Josha Rogers placed 10th in the open high jump, with a mark of 1.57m (5'1.75”). Junior Lexie Barr added an 11th-place finish in the open pole vault (3.10m/10'2”).
The Racers will have one more chance to improve on their season best marks before participating in the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship in Charleston, Ill., Feb. 24-26. MSU will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to compete in the Redbird Invitational Friday, Feb. 18.
