The Murray State Racers were upset Wednesday in a 64-57 loss to Southeast Missouri State at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Coupled with Morehead State's overtime win at Eastern Kentucky, the MSU loss dropped them to 12-4 in the Ohio Valley Conference and into a first place tie with the Eagles.
The Racers (20-7) saw their eight-game win streak and eight-game road win streak stopped.
After trailing 30-18 at the half, MSU made a late push against the Redhawks but it wasn't enough.
Falling behind as many as 18 points with 10:47 remaining, the Racers kept trying to chip away at the lead.
With 5:40 left, B.J. Jenkins hit a three-pointer and MSU got a pair of free throws from Isacc Miles and he also tacked on a drive to the basket with 4:37 left to cut the SEMO lead to 50-40.
Jenkins got a three-point play after an Ivan Aska fast-break slam and MSU cut the lead to four with 1:27 left.
Isaiah Canaan's three with 26.3 seconds remaining got the Racers to within three (60-57), but that was as close as MSU would get.
SEMO made four straight free throws in the final seconds to seal their first win over MSU since 2007 and their first at home since 2003.
Jenkins led MSU with 18 points, while Aska came off the bench to score a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
MSU returns home Saturday to play the BracketBusters game against Evansville in a 7 p.m. tip at the CFSB Center.
