Elliott, Isaak and Rhodes each collect two hits in victory

Cody Larson's pinch hit slow roller into the hole at second base was dropped by the pitcher covering, allowing the winning run to score in the bottom of the ninth as Murray State defeated Bowling Green, 4-3, to complete the doubleheader sweep Saturday afternoon at Reagan Field.
With one out in the ninth, Brandon Elliott delivered a double into the gap in right center. A wild pitch moved Elliott to third, but a groundout to short left him there with two outs. Following a walk to Jacob Rhodes, Larson delivered the slow roller that turned out to be the game winner.
The Falcons (0-5) got on the board in the first inning as Ryan Schlater singled to start the game and later scored on Andrew Kuns double to right field.
The Breds (2-4) answered back in the home-half of the inning with Zach Noonan singling through the left side and going to second on Travis Isaak's single to center. With two outs, Brandon Eggenschwiler plated two runs with a triple to right center, and then scored on Paul Ritzheimer's bloop single to right field.
BGSU tied the game in the top of the seventh as a leadoff walk was followed by a fielding error to put two on with nobody out. Clay Duncan plated a run with a single to right center, and the tieing run scored on a 6-4-3 double play.
Will Handlin (1-0) earned the victory in relief after tossing two perfect innings with one strikeout. Ben Singer (0-1) took the loss after allowing one run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning.
Jake Donze did not factor in the decision for his second-straight start after allowing three runs, two earned, on six hits, five walks and five strikeouts over seven innings.
Rhodes went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles, while Elliott and Isaak each went 2-for-5.
The two teams close out the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. at Reagan Field.
