3/31/2011 2:52:55 PM | Women's Track and Field
Besides the host Southeast Missouri Redhawks, MSU will be competing against Memphis (Conference USA), Southern Illinois (Missouri Valley), Arkansas State (Sun Belt) and Rend Lake College (Junior College).
Last season the Racers finished seventh out of 11 teams in the meet, with Josha Rogers earning the highest individual finish. Rogers took fourth in the high jump, with a mark of 1.57m (5'1.75”). Lexie Barr finished seventh in the pole vault, with a mark of 3.35m (11'0”).
The Racers will be looking to build on their performance at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold last weekend, where Barr set the record in the pole vault, with a height of 3.60m (11'9.75”). The pole vault event at the Joey Haines has been a strong event for MSU. In 2009, Alicia Temple set the first of two school records that season in the event, with a height of 3.35m (11'0”). Temple reset the record later that season and it stood until March 26, 2011 when Barr rewrote the record.
Five other returners to this season's roster competed in the meet a year ago, with Ayerial Rouse, Christina Johnson, Kayla Crusham, Bridget Stichnot and Kristen Reffett all participating in running events.
Events start Friday, April 1 and continue throughout the day Saturday, April 2.
