Men’s Tennis Starts Spring Break with Three Road Matches

The Racers (1-5) will first head to Chattanooga, Tenn., to play a rescheduled matches with UT Chattanooga, Thursday, March 10 at 2 p.m. at the UTC Tennis Courts. The Mocs are 5-5 on the season after winning their last four matches. UTC has already faced three teams from the Ohio Valley Conference this season, earning a win over Jacksonville State and losses to Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay.
MSU will then head to Alabama for the first OVC match of the season against the Gamecocks. JSU is 4-6 this season and will have one match against UAB (March 9) before hosting the Racers, Friday, March 11 at noon on the JSU Tennis Courts. The match is the first league match-up for MSU, but the second for the Gamecocks, who lost to TTU. Last season JSU took the regular season meeting between the teams, but the Racers then earned a 4-1 win over the Gamecocks in the OVC Championship quarterfinals.
The final match of the week will be in Birmingham, Ala., against former OVC opponent Samford. MSU will face the Bulldogs, Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. on the Samford Tennis Courts. The match is the final of nine-straight home matches for Samford, who will face UNC Greensboro March 10. The Bulldogs are 7-2 on the season after dropping their last match. Samford has played just one other team from the OVC this year, earning a win over JSU.
The Racers will finish their Spring Break matches March 14-19, with matches scheduled against Middle Tennessee, Bethel, Drake and Western Kentucky.
