MSU started the match strong by sweeping all three doubles matches to go up 1-0 heading into singles action. Wiseman and freshman Taylor Vick were the first pair to finish, earning an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles. Webb and freshman Carla Suga followed shortly after with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Even though the point was already earned, sophomore Ashley Canty and junior Cassidy Cunitz battled through for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles.
In singles action, Webb was the first to earn another point for the Racers. The Cumming, Ga., native won in straight-sets at No. 3 singles (6-0, 6-0). Vick then made the score 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The deciding point was earned by Suga, who claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles. Junior Ashley Pierson followed a few minutes later with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
The Racers will be inaction again Tuesday, April 5 when they host Austin Peay at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts starting at 2:30 p.m. The match will be one of three scheduled for the final week of the regular season and will determine who will make the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference Championship.
