MSU Women's Tennis Falls 4-3 to APSU

The Murray State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to visiting Austin Peay Tuesday in Ohio Valley Conference play at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts in Murray, Ky.

The match started well for MSU when the teams of Ashley Canty and Cassidy Cunitz won their doubles contest 8-3. When the Racer team of Alexis Webb and Carla Suga won 8-4, Murray State had won the doubles point.

In singles play, the Racers got wins from Webb, who defeated APSU's Rachel Marqolies 6-0, 6-1 and Taylor Vick secured another singles point when APSU defaulted.

But, MSU saw Cunitz fall to APSU's Vanja Tonic 6-2, 6-2, and Canty also lost her match to
Weikard in a tough battle that went to a third set 6-2, 5-7, 3-6. MSU's Lindsey Wiseman lost to APSU's Andra Cornea 7-6, 4-6, while Suga went down 6-4, 6-0.

The Racers are 7-12 overall and 3-3 in the OVC.

Prior to the OVC Championships, the Racers wrap up the regular season with road matches at SIUE Friday at 2 p.m. and Saturday at Eastern Illinois at 11 a.m.
