Great Alaska Shootout Changes Pairings For Thanksgiving Week Tournament

Officials with the 2011 Carrs/Safeway Great Alaska Shootout have changed the pairings for the 34th staging of the annual event in Anchorage during Thanksgiving week.
The Murray State Racers will now face the host school, the University of Alaska Anchorage, Nov. 23 in the early game of the first day of the tournament. The original schedule had MSU vs Cal-Irvine on the same day in the late game.
Game times for the tournament will be announced later.
MSU will face either Dartmouth or San Francisco on Nov. 25 in the winner's semifinals or the consolation semifinals.
Other first round games happen on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, with Central Michigan taking on New Mexico State and UC Irvine facing Southern Miss.
The tournament ends with four games on Nov. 26.
All games will be played a UAA's Sullivan Arena.
There is also a women's portion of the Great Alaska Shootout. Alaska Anchorage is joined by Miami (Fla.), South Florida and another team to be announced later.
The Great Alaska Shootout is the longest-running regular-season college basketball tournament in the nation, taking place every Thanksgiving in Anchorage since 1978.
Murray State will be the first Ohio Valley Conference team to participate in the event.
