Racers Finish Fifth at OVC Outdoor Championship

Results
MSU earned a total of 48 points and finished behind Eastern Illinois (185), Southeast Missouri (181), Eastern Kentucky (136) and Jacksonville State (106.5). Austin Peay claimed sixth (55) and Tennessee State (34.5), Tennessee Tech (25) and Morehead State (16) rounded out the field.
The final day of the two-day competition saw the Racers earn six top-10 finishes. Freshman Katie Forshey and junior Lexie Barr led the way with fourth-place finishes in their events. Forshey took fourth in the 400 hurdles, with a personal-best time of 1:04.72. Barr cleared 3.35m (10'11.75”) in a rainy pole vault competition.
JuniorKayla Crusham then earned a fifth-place finish in the 5000, with a personal-best time of 18:31.15. The time was over 10 seconds faster than her previous best of 18:41.52. Senior Kristin Reffett also earned a fifth-place spot in the javelin. Reffett threw the javelin 33.55m (110'2”), a personal-best by almost six meters (almost 20 feet). Reffett also ran in the 5000, with a time of 18:52.50 for ninth place.
Senior Becca Lamb earned eighth in the javelin with a personal-record throw of 29.94m (98'2”). Sophomore Alexis Love claimed sixth for MSU in the 100, with a time of 12.15 in a steady rain that fell in the afternoon.
The Racers final competitor of the day was freshman Meghan Helmer who was 15th in the hammer throw, with a personal-best throw of 35.71m (117'2”).
