Murray State Head Men's Basketball Coach Billy Kennedy announced the signing of 6-9 forward Harley Nussman of Pearland, Texas, who will be a freshman with the Racers in the fall.
“I'm really happy to add Harley to our program,” Kennedy said. “He's a great student who comes from one of the best high school programs in Texas. His size and ability to score around the basket will help our team now and in future.”
“I think Billy's getting a gem, Harley's a guy that's under the radar and his future is bright,” Pearland Head Coach Steve Buckaloo said. “When he gets in the weight room he's really going to add some muscle and weight. In my 31 years of coaching in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas I'd rank him by far as the best scoring post player that I've had.”
Nussman was a two-time All-District 24 pick in Texas class 5A at Pearland High School. He scored 13.8 points per game as a senior and grabbed 9.2 rebounds to go with 2.8 blocked shots, which ranked him among the best shot blockers in the Houston metro area.
He had a pair of memorable games as a senior in the 2010-11 season. In December he scored 28 points against Dulles and in January had another 28-point night against Alvin (11-of-14 from the field) to go with 14 rebounds. He was a 55 percent shooter from the field in 31 games and was 72 percent from the free throw line.
Nussman played AAU basketball with Gulf Coast Blue Chips.
