Poole & Jackson Earn OVC Weekly Awards

Murray State landed double award winners Monday when Donte Poole and Zay Jackson were named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week in voting by the league's sports information directors.
Poole, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev., averaged 24.5 in two wins to help the Racers move to a record 18-0 start to the season. He shot 46 percent (12-of-26) from the field for the week, 30 percent (4-of-13) from three-point range and 91 percent (21-of-23) from the free throw line. Against Tennessee Tech Saturday, Poole scored a career-high 28 points and tied his career-high with eight rebounds. In MSU's win over Jacksonville State, he led the Racers with 21 points and was 12-of-14 from the line.
Jackson, is a freshman from Hammond, La., and had his own part to play in keeping Murray State undefeated.
He averaged 9.5 points per game in 27 minutes of playing time per game. For the week, he shot 55 percent from the field and hit 2-of-2 from three-point range. Jackson scored 10 points against Jacksonville State with six rebounds and came back in the win over Tennessee Tech with nine points and five rebounds.
Poole's player of the week award is the fourth this season for the Racers, as Isaiah Canaan has won the weekly honor three times including last week. This was the first freshman of the week award for Jackson.
