Racer Rifle Drops Close Match To JSU

The Murray State Rifle team competed over the weekend against fellow Ohio Valley Conference member Jacksonville State at the Ole Miss range in Oxford, Miss.
The Racers had a close match with the Gamecocks and dropped a 4656-4631 decision. JSU won the smallbore portion of the match 2307-2297 and the air rifle competition 2349-2334.
Bill Harvey and Ashley Rose led the way for MSU in smallbore with a score of 578 and 575, while Kelsey Emme and Kyle Donnan posted MSU's best air rifle scores of 586 and 584.
"I was happy with the effort,” Head Coach Alan Lollar said. “It was a good way to start preparation for our Roger Withrow Open this weekend. We'll be hosting some very good teams and look forward to the challenge."
The Withrow Open runs Friday through Sunday at MSU's Pat Spurgin Range in Roy Stewart Stadium. The Racers welcome Kentucky, UAB, Columbus State, Rose-Hulman, Jacksonville State, Ohio State, Nebraska, UTEP, UT Martin and Memphis.
Several junior and collegiate clubs and individuals are scheduled to compete in the match.
