Junior Alexis Love continued her outstanding season, with two fifth-place finishes at the Rob McCravy Memorial hosted by Kentucky at the Nutter Field House in Lexington, Ky.
Love placed fifth in the 60 with a time of 7.57 and then in the 200, with a personal-best time of 24.69. The Palmetto, Fla., native is getting even closer to the school record in the 200, set by Heather Samuel of 24.02 in 1994.
The Racers set 10 other personal-bests in the meet against athletes from some of the top conferences around the nation. Freshman Ashley Conway set a personal-record in the long jump of 5.19m (17'0.5”) and then placed 11th in the high jump, clearing 1.66m (5'5.25”).
“I am really happy with how the team performed this weekend,” said head coach Jenny Severns. “There was a lot of tough competition and they really rose to the challenge.”
MSU will continue to 2011-12 indoor campaign at the SIU Invite, Feb. 3-4 in Carbondale, Ill. It will be the third time during the indoor season that the Racers have competed at Southern Illinois.
