Racers Wrap up Season in Lexington

Three members of the Murray State women's track and field team wrapped up the 2026 season at the NCAA East First Round in Lexington, Kentucky.

Cheyenne Melvin led the charge for the Racers as the graduate student competed in the 800 meters. In Thursday's opening round, the St. Louis, Missouri native placed fourth in her heat and 21st overall with a personal best time of 2:04.28, qualifying her for Saturday's quarterfinal round. Melvin bowed out in the quarterfinal with a time of 2:07.55

Sophomore Serena Blackwood appeared in the 100 meters, placing sixth in her heat and 42nd overall with a time of 11.58 seconds.

Senior Brooke Probst represented the Racers in the high jump, but was unable to move past the opening round.

"Whenever you get to end your season being a part of the national championships, you can't be upset," said head coach Adam Kiesler. "We are so proud of Serena, Brooke, and Cheyenne. This was the first time for each of them being on this stage for Murray State, and they all did an amazing job. It was sad seeing Brooke and Cheyenne don the Racers jersey for the last time, but they both had amazing careers, and we thank them for everything they have done for our program."
