Racers Head to Memphis for ITA Regional

The Murray State men's tennis team travels to Memphis over the weekend for the ITA Regional Tournament at the Racquet Club of Memphis.
In all, 21 teams will be competing at the Region Eight Tournament hosted by the ITA. Along with the Racers, Austin Peay, Belmont, Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee Tech will also be representing the OVC over the weekend. There will be 128 individuals and 64 doubles teams competing in the event.
In the first round, Max McLean will kick things off for the Racers as he will face-off against Dayton's Josh Malyon at 4 p.m. Joao Camara will play against Ettore Zito of Middle Tennessee in the round of 128 at 5:30. Tyler Jeffers will face Patrick Elliott of Ball State and Adam Taylor will play Wright State's Ricardo Pineda on Friday at 5:30 and 6, respectively.
Doubles competition will begin on Friday morning, before singles competition begins. The duo of Jeffers and Taylor will play Andrew Hanley and Nick Salcedo of Dayton at 8:30 to begin doubles play for the Racers.
The brother team of Aleks and Max Mitric will face the tandem of Juan Ramirez and Jorge Varon of East Tennessee at 8:30 as well. Finishing off the opening round of doubles play will be the tandem of McLean and Camara, as they will face Derrick Watson and Austin Woldmoe of Butler at 9:45 a.m.
The doubles portion of the regional will play through to the quarterfinals on Friday, while the singles competition will play just the opening round and will resume play on Saturday morning.
