Rifle Has a Pair of Matches in Kentucky This Weekend

The 10th-ranked Murray State rifle team hits the road for a pair of matches over the weekend in Lexington, Ky. The Racers will first face third-ranked Kentucky on Friday and will also face-off with No. 4 Army on Saturday.
The Racers are returning to action for the first time since shooting at the Ole Miss Invitational on Oct. 5 where they finished in 4th-place out of 14 teams. In its two events this season, Murray State has compiled aggregate scores of 4625 and 4621 and has been led by Kelsey Emme's scores off 1164 and 1163.
Emme and Tessa Howald have led the Racers in air rifle this season. Emme recorded a score of 592 in the opening match of the year, while Howald shot 589 at Ole Miss. Bill Harvey, with scores of 576 and 578, respectively has led MSU in the smallbore portion of each event this year.
Kentucky comes into Friday's match coming off of a 4666-4643 win over No. 6 Nebraska last weekend. It is the Wildcats' second match of the season.
Army is 1-1 on the year, having lost its opening match of the season to top-ranked West Virginia 4709-4631 and recording a victory on Monday over eighth-ranked Memphis 4658-4631.
Murray State is 1-0 this season in non-tournaments. The Racers recorded a victory on the opening weekend of the season, defeating UT Martin and Columbus State.
