Canaan Adds Associated Press All-America To Preseason Honors

Murray State's Isaiah Canaan added to his college basketball preseason honors Monday when he was named to the Associated Press preseason All-America team.
Canaan, a senior from Biloxi, Miss., was in the company of other AP selections including Indiana's Cody Zeller who was one vote shy of being a unanimous selection. Doug McDermott of Creighton, Deshaun Thomas of Ohio State, C.J. McCollum of Lehigh and sophomore Trey Burke of Michigan rounded out the AP team.
Canaan is coming off a junior season that including being named All-America seven times over as the 24th leading scorer in the nation
(19.0 points per game), sixth in made three-point baskets per game (2.97) and 13th in three-point percentage (.456).
In addition to being an AP Preseason All-America, Canaan has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Player of the Year and was first on the CBSSports.com list of the top-50 point guards. The Sporting News also named him to their preseason All-America list.
The Associated Press team is selected by a panel of 65 national media members.
Canaan and the Racers open the season Monday with an exhibition game against Freed-Hardeman. Tip time at the CFSB Center is set for 7 p.m.
