Rifle Falls at Morehead State

The 10th-ranked Murray State rifle team competed over the weekend at the Morehead State Invitational. The Racers faced off with both Morehead and Jacksonville State. It was the Racers' third consecutive meeting with the Gamecocks.
Jacksonville State won the match with an aggregate score of 4641. The Racers finished with a 4613, while Morehead State scored a 4537 in the event.
Kelsey Emme led the Racers with a score of 1156. Emme had a score of 571 in smallbore and a 585 in air rifle. Tessa Howald had the next best score for MSU, shooting an 1153. Howald shot 576 in smallbore and 577 in air rifle.
Michael Burzynski had the best air rifle score on the day for Murray State shooting a 585 along with Emme. Howald's 576 was the best smallbore score. Kaitlyn Wilson shot 574 in both disciplines. Bill Harvey also shot the same score in both, shooting 571 in each.
"We worked hard, but this was not the match we went there to shoot,” said Head Coach Alan Lollar. Monday we will get back to training. It's time to go to work."
Next up for the Racers will be their fourth-straight meeting with Jacksonville State as they will travel to Jacksonville, Ala., on Nov. 17. This will be Murray State's last match before the holidays.
