Nov. 17 - 1 p.m.
Stewart Stadium - Murray, Ky.
STORY LINES
Saturday's game will mark the final game for 15 members of the Racer football team. The players will be honored prior to kickoff. This year's senior class includes HB Beauford, Casey Brockman, Darius Buck, Tyler Evans, John King, Andy Mahoney, Patrick Robertson, Brock Rydecki, Chris Staten, Roderick Tomlin, Ja-Vonta Trotter, Dontel Watkins, Tevin Wells, Julian Whitehead and Jarius Williams.
Junior wide receiver Walter Powell has re-written the single-season record books at MSU this season. Entering the final game, Powell has 90 catches for 1,162 yards and nine touchdowns. He broke Harvey Tanner's record of 88 catches in 1967, as well as Reggie Swinton's 1996 record of 1,120 yards. Powell is established a new mark with six 100-yard receiving performances this season.
The record-setting career of quarterback Casey Brockman will come to an end this Saturday. He will end his career owning just about every Murray State and OVC single-season and career passing record. He enters the game needing 199 passing yards to reach 10,000 in his career. He is also just 53 yards away of breaking the OVC single-season record for total offense, currently held by Samford's Ray Nelson (1994).
The Game
The Racers close out the 2012 season as they welcome Southeast Missouri to The Track for Senior Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
vs. Southeast Missouri
The Racers hold a 37-8-1 record in the all-time series with the Redhawks. The Racers are 19-3 in home games in the series, but are only 1-2 in the last three games at Stewart Stadium.
Last Year vs SEMO
The final minute of the game featured every emotion you could think of. With the Racers up by seven, SEMO scored a touchdown with 1:03 remaining, only to have the extra point blocked by Tyler Evans. MSU recovered the ensuing onside kick, only to fumble two plays later. The Redhawks got the ball at midfield, but were unable to get any closer and the Racers escaped with the 35-34 victory.
Senior Farewell
Saturday's game marks the final time 15 seniors will put on the Racer uniform. The class has laid the foundation for success at Murray State on the football field.
Small to Return in 2013
Linebacker Sam Small will return to the Racers in 2013. Small, the leader of the Racer defense, had 115 tackles a season ago before suffering an injury in spring practice. Despite not playing a down this season, Small was voted a team captain by his teammates.
Brockman Record Watch
Quarterback Casey Brockman is running out of records to break. This week, Brockman should add three records as he will become the OVC career leader in passing attempts, the OVC single-season leader in total offense, and the MSU single-season record holder in touchdown passes.
Powell Sets Pair of Records
Walter Powell set a trio of records against Eastern Kentucky. He finished the game with eight catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns. He established new single-season records for catches (90) and receiving yards (1,162), while also setting a new record with his sixth 100-yard receiving game.
