Canaan Named OVC Player Of The Week For Fifth Time

Murray State's Isaiah Canaan was named Co-Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week in a vote by the league's sports information director.
Canaan shares the OVC honor this week with Robert Covington of Tennessee State.
Canaan's fifth OVC weekly award this season comes after he averaged 27.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists per game for the Racers against TSU and Austin Peay. Canaan hit 68.2 percent (15-of-22) from the field, 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from 3-point range and 82.4 percent (14-of-17) from the free throw line last week.
He had 31 points in MSU's first loss of the season Thursday against TSU including hitting 7-of-10 3-pointers. The game marked his fourth 30-plus point effort of the season. On Saturday, the junior from Biloxi, Miss., hit 3-of-5 3-pointers and scored 23 points in MSU's win over Austin Peay.
The Racers clinched a share of the OVC regular season title with the win over APSU.
MSU hits the road Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game against Southeast Missouri State at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The game can be seen on the Racer TV Network on the cable systems of Time Warner, Mediacom, Murray Electric and Comcast as well as ESPN3. The game is also carried on Froggy 103.7FM and GoRacers.com.
